Barcelona is the gem of the tourist map of Spain. Antoni Gaudi's masterpiece, La Sagrada Família cathedral, is the number one stop in the Catalonia's capital. The Gothic Quarter, the Palau Reial Major and the Picasso Museum, are important tourist stops, as are many of Gaudi's other architectural treasures in the city. Barcelona and the surrounding towns have some beautiful Mediterranean beaches.
